Asphalt Repair (1)
- Project Defence Building, Scotland
- Roof Area 1000m²
- Substrate Asphalt
- Contractor William Skinner
- Product Kemperol V210
- Requirement The flat roof of this MOD building had been originally waterproofed using an asphalt system, which had been protected from UV by 12 tonnes of loose laid chippings. The existence of these chipping made it impossible to determine where exactly the roof was leaking. The organisation responsible for the upkeep of the building and the protection of the sophisticated computer equipment beneath needed a solution that would offer minimal disruption and long term protection from the harsh weather conditions.
- Solution A proposal to install the Kemperol V210 repair system was made by the roofing contractors due to its proven high performance (including numerous PFI and large defence projects) and its cost-effectiveness compared to others. Kemperol V210 is ideal for repairing failed asphalt roofs due to its excellent bonding performance to this substrate, avoiding the need for expensive removal and disposal, whilst – like the original asphalt – Kemperol will withstand foot traffic without additional surfacing to allow easy access for cleaning and maintenance crews.
