- Requirement T his was a newbuild project with a large flat roof area of 2000m2. The area immediately below the roof would house expensive and sensitive equipment that could not be taken out of service without significant disruption, emphasising the need for a highly dependable waterproofing solution. In addition, there were numerous details, upstands and penetrations to the roof, making this a fairly complex application, as well as a number of large, roof-mounted generators. A fully-bonded waterproofing solution was needed that would also handle the permanent vibration caused by the generators.
- Solution The Kemperol V210 system was chosen as the most appropriate for this application, for as well as a proven history of performance in similar situations, it is BBA certified and easily accommodates complex detailing. With this system the reinforced polyester sheet is simply cut and formed to mould seamlessly around penetrations and upstands to give a fully-bonded seal that is highly reliable and, unlike the mechanically affixed or glued terminations of other systems, is not subject to deterioration or degradation over time. On complex roofs such as this, there are considerable time and cost savings due to the ease and speed with which detailing can be accommodated. The resulting elastomeric membrane was able to withstand vibration from the generators without affecting the performance of the bond to the substrate or the integrity of the membrane.
