The recent increase in the specification of green roofs for both aesthetic and environmental reasons puts additional requirements on the waterproofing membrane, highlighting the need for a system that will last decades without the need for maintenance or repair.
It is for this reason that Kemperol is so frequently specified for green roofs - not only is it highly robust and durable with excellent wearing performance, but its polyester fleece is resistant to root penetration, obviating the need for a secondary root barrier as with the fibrous mats of other systems. Kemperol creates an immensely strong membrane, fully bonded to the substrate, which is both waterproof and inherently resistant to tearing and mechanical damage.
Kemperol can be used on either warm or inverted roofs, with the waterproof layer applied onto the substrate or over a waterproof insulation. Because of its permanent elasticity the membrane will outlast bituminous products, which have a tendency to lose their elasticity and become brittle over an extended period.
Kemperol green roofs can be specified as complete, installed systems including insulation and planting. For information on the Kemperol green roof system, materials or specification advice please contact our technical team on 01925 445532.
