Kemperol has long been used as a replacement for lead when repairing lead roofs, being more easily and quickly installed and a fraction of the cost of lead – which has increased in price from $1000 to $3000 between 2007 and 2008!
Now, it seems, Kemperol is being used to replace lead as a preventative measure to deter would-be thieves and so avoid the damage caused to the building fabric after roofs are stripped of their protective sheeting. In many cases the cost of such damage can be more than the actual replacement cost, particularly on churches and historic buildings where specialist refurbishment is often needed. Kemperol can be used for complete roofs or patch repairs, it withstands maintenance foot traffic and its Natural Grey colour quickly weathers to give a complementary appearance on even the most sensitive roofscapes.
