Kemperol 1K-PUR
Requirement

The roof of London's Guildhall library was experiencing failure at the perimeter, where this adjoined the flat rooflights - an exposed and demanding location which was typically subject to standing water for prolonged periods. A key consideration for the building manager was for a repair solution that would not only perform reliably in these conditions, but that could be applied with minimal disruption, avoiding removal of the existing material.

Solution

Kemperol 1K-PUR was specified for the repair, being a single pack reinforced waterproofing system that is ideal for complex perimeter detailing, forming a permanently elastic, seamless membrane that has excellent bonding performance and so can be applied onto existing, primed substrates without the need for removal. It is applied ‘straight from the can' without the need for mixing, so is particularly easy to work with on roofs where access is difficult or restricted.

Following preparation of the repair area, the rooflights were masked off and the 1K-PUR system applied onto the primed surfaces. As Kemperol will bond effectively to a wide range of substrates it can bridge different adjoining materials with equal effectiveness and, being permanently elastic, will withstand any differential structural or thermal movement that might occur.

To permanently protect rooflights, Kemper Coetrans Transparent is a completely transparent coating that, unlike other polyurethane based clear coatings is totally UV stable.
